Question:
1. If you were hired to recruit individuals for the non-profit organization that Juanita is running, how would you go about doing your job?
Previous Assignment instructions:
Human Resource and Organization Performance
Effective management of human resources contributes to mission accomplishment and vision achievement. Given that a vision is the future preferred status for an organization, it is critical to align people with the processes and resources necessary to propel the organization forward. As easy as this may seem to the uninformed, there are many challenges as pressure is applied to consistently reduce costs while delivering superior goods and or services.
Whether you are part of a small entrepreneurial start up, a civil servant with a mature and large government entity, or a volunteer for a non-profit organization, someone is fulfilling the role of HR oversight. No matter what type of organization you are working for the HR functions typically associated with building human capital are: analysis and design of work, recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, personnel policies, compliance with laws, and strategies for supporting the mission.
This assignment is designed to integrate the reflection of personal experience, and the information covered in the textbook. Assuming you are Juanita, answer the following questions:
o How can human resource management strategically contribute to the organization’s mission and vision on a daily basis?
o What skills might Juanita have to develop to better fulfill her role?
o How might Juanita engage line managers to become more involved in what has traditionally been HR’s function in this organization? Why?
o Which aspects of human resource management would she want to entrust to specialists? Why?

My response to the above assignment:
How can human resource management strategically contribute to the organization’s mission and vision on a daily basis?
Human resource management is the most important aspect in organizational performance. Effective human resource management plays a major role in achieving the organization’s vision and mission accomplishment. Every successful organization must have a mission and a vision. A mission is basically an expression of what an organization does. A vision is a picture of the organization’s desired future expressed. It is a component in strategic planning. Human resource management ensures that the employees have good knowledge of the organization’s goals. This helps them to aim at achieving the targeted objectives. Human resource management also ensures that all the employees have the appropriate skills required to do the job assigned to them. This increases work efficiency and consequently proper accomplishment of the organization’s mission. Effective resource management helps in proper utilization of the organization’s resources thus ensuring that the organization achieves its visions.
What skills might Juanita have to develop to better fulfill her role?
Juanita will have to develop her skills in performance management. With the skill of performance management she will be able to achieve a complete performance improvement. Juanita will have to also develop the skill to hire and recruit. Ensuring that the organization carries out interviews properly and hires high performing stuff goes a long way to ensure the success of the organization. She will have to also develop the skill of improving the compensation and benefits structure. This will affect how the employees life about the organization. The employees will be motivated to work harder; they will have a positive attitude. Juanita also has to develop her training and development skills to maximize her work efficiency.
How might Juanita engage line managers to become more involved in what has traditionally been human resource function in this organization? Why?
Line manager is a manager who heads a revenue-generating department. His main responsibility is ensuring that the organizations objectives are achieved. Engagement of the line managers in the human resource functions is very beneficial to the organization. Line managers can be engaged in human resource functions through actively involving the line managers in the human resource department. The line managers would be involved in the discussions about subordinate training. The line managers have a direct contact with the employees thus are in a better position to influence employee performance. The importance of involving the line managers in human resource functions is to ensure proper utilization of resources and maximum employee participation thus leading to smooth running of the organization. (Luoma, 2000)
Which aspects of human resource management would she entrust to specialists? Why?
The aspect of human resource management that should be entrusted to specialist is its role of hiring and recruiting personnel. The type of employees an organization has plays a big role in determining the success of an organization. An organization should always ensure that the recruitment process is effective. This will help the organization in making sure that it hires high skilled personnel with proper level of education. The more successful the hiring and recruitment process is the more successful the organization will be. Thus hiring and recruitment is a very sensitive aspect that should be done by people who have specialized in them. Another aspect of human resource management that should be entrusted to specialists is employee performance appraisal. (Noe, 2009)
